Shawn Kelly (Big Boss and founder of Pittsburgh Paranormal Society) was introduced in to the metaphysical field in 1985. After a trip to Gettysburg in 1992, he began his passion for investigating the paranormal world. Shawn founded the Pittsburgh Paranormal Society in early 2006, and with his crew began their investigations in haunted areas in the tri state areas. Through their interactions, Shawn has been exposed to and began learning about the technical and scientific aspects of paranormal research. Shawn enjoys working in the supernatural field and his motto is: “I’ll respect what you believe in as long as you respect what I believe in”.

When I met Chris at ENP, I was really intrigued by all of the information that he knew about the paranormal world. He enjoys going on investigations, he talks about the equipment that he would like to get. Chris and I sat down one night, and we discussed places to go. Chris' attitude about investigating was very uplifting and inspiring to others. He managed to excite a lot of members about every single place we've been. Today, Chris is an active member of PPS; he has learned a lot by other members on how to use the equipment. Chris is a very good paranormal investigator when it comes to the scientific aspect, and he will continue to find new places and think up new possibilities in the future.

Carmen, otherwise known as Tinkerbell, is a junior at Carlow University. She became involved with paranormal activities only this past year. She enjoys taking pictures and hopes to one day see a spirit and capture its existence on film. Carmen coaches a local high school dance team (aka the “Orbettes”) and is the “official” dancing queen of the group. She hopes to able to speak fluent Spanish as a long term goal. Carmen is currently taking a short leave of absence from the group to fully focus on her education. She is striving to continue her grade streak of 4.0’s.

I first became interested in the paranormal while a student at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA...just a short distance from the famously haunted Gettysburg.
Civil War stories and legends fill the area and still haunt the students of Wilson.
I am currently the Researcher for the PPS investigative team and enjoys learning and sharing the history of each site she and team visit.
Living northeast of Pittsburgh now, I focuse on the connection of paranormal sightings to the 19th and 20th century history of that area and how it has affected the landscape, legends and people who live there.

As I came into adulthood my interest grew even more, as I realized I was not the only one that has experienced unexplained things.
As for me I believe in the spiritual as well as the technical aspects. And when I found out about this group I jumped at the chance to join.

I've been interested in the paranormal ever since I was a child, and in doing paranormal investigations
since I was a teen. I've lived in a couple of haunted houses and found it interesting rather than frightening.
I started working with PPS after they came to my own home.
I'd love to capture some "hard" evidence like a photo or an evp someday, but for now
I'm enjoying the learning process and looking forward to more investigations!

I am a 40 something mother of 4 and a couple grandchildren. I have been interested in the paranormal since I was young. Always loved sci-fi and horror movies. I think it is interesting that certain tales of the paranormal cross cultures. I believe that the "fantasy" stories we hear about dragons, fairies and elves had to come from something since the stories are all over the world. This is also true for the afterlife. Many cultures tell variations of the same stories and have for centuries. There is something to this. I think in our modern world we have closed our minds. I hope to someday be able to show that I am not crazy and that there is something to the experiences I have had. I am working with the PPS North Chapter to be able to expand the group to other communities in the northern area of Pittsburgh. We encourage respect for the beliefs of others. We do not rule out any possibilities. I believe you never know what you can find if you just look.

I have just recently moved to Pennsylvania coming from West Virginia. I am interested in the paranormal because of experiences I have had in my life. I do not get much opportunity to go on the investigations but I help with reviewing the information obtained. When I go on investigations I get in trouble for walking alone ahead of everyone else. I think I have a better chance of finding something.

Hi, My name is Val (Jeannie) Burns. I've been interested in the paranormal for many years. I have actively investigated since early 2006 and have had only a few experiences to date, although I hope to have many more! I tend to play the role in the group of debunker. While I'm excited to find evidence in our work, I try to work all angles to find a plausible, more natural reason that explains what we see or hear. When I'm not working or wandering around graveyards and such I'm tending to 4 teenagers, my hubby and a houseful of animals.

Her interest in the paranormal began in her teens when she first realized that she was sensitive. From that time on Barb has studied and researched the paranormal field. I am interested in all aspects of the paranormal but especially in the afterlife.
I had my first experience meeting a spirit when I was 18 years old, when my deceased dad came back
to visit me early one morning at daybreak. The overwhelming feeling of peace came over me,
one that I have never felt before or since. He looked very real &
solid but when I realized it was my dad, and he was dead...
I screamed and poof he was gone. Ever since then I have been searching for more
evidence of the spirit world because I KNOW it's there, I have seen it.
I have a degree in Elementary Education but at present I work in the technology field. I love working with PPS!!
